Celle du voyageur qui découvre pour la première fois des cultures radicalement autres, leurs couleurs, leurs ornements, leur rapport au corps et au sacré. « Orients » rassemble des toiles plus anciennes, nées des premiers voyages et d’un émerveillement intact pour toutes les cultures orientales, du Moyen-Orient à l’Extrême-Orient. La richesse des tissus, la géométrie des motifs, la lumière dorée des souks et des temples. Un Orient rêvé autant que traversé, qui a profondément façonné mon regard et ma palette.

It all began with a sense of wonder, the wonder of a traveler discovering, for the first time, radically different cultures: their colors, their ornamentation, and their relationship to the body and the sacred. “Orients” brings together older paintings, born of early travels and an undiminished sense of wonder for all Eastern cultures, from the Middle East to the Far East. The richness of the fabrics, the geometry of the patterns, the golden light of the souks and temples. An Orient both dreamed of and traversed, which has profoundly shaped my vision and my palette.
